River Final Design

Final Design

The final prototype of the river subsystem strayed away from the initial design. Only two rows of consistently measured plates were manufactured. A large 4×8 foot wooden board is placed under two rowers, one at the front and one at the end of the board. Metal pegs were placed on the ends of the wood to go into the bearings. At least three inch envelope of clearance is recommended from where the viewer sits on the rock to where the viewer enter and exits the machinescape.

Future Improvements and Recommendations

  • Replace wooden paddles with conduits to have a steady motion when the sprockets are turned.
  • Consisten building material.
  • A configurable curve design to better simulate a flowing river.
  • A mechanically stable and modular frame structure.
