MLI Training

MLI Blanket Construction

Stasia Kulsa came in handy for our second week of trainings.

Lab members followed the plans for a radiation shield, an aluminum frame, and the first two layers of an MLI shield. They also had to tag and hand-sew part of the shield to understand those processes as they are vital elements of MLI shield construction.

Everyone had a chance to see how the sewing machine worked and to try it in Kulsa’s hands-on workshop. Lab members left with a better understanding of the layers required in a proper MLI shield and how they are constructed.
